Visiting Atlanta With the Kids

Many people visit Atlanta each year with the kids in tow. The city has a number of popular attractions that are fun for families with children. Whether visitors are in town for the weekend or longer, here are some favorite destinations to discover with the kids. Click this site:

LEGOLAND Discovery Center is Atlanta’s newest attraction for children. Specifically geared for ages 3-10, LEGOLAND is a creative and entertaining place to take the kids or grandkids. The attraction features two rides, a 4D theater, and a variety of LEGO activities to explore. Visitors can fight trolls and rescue a princess on the Kingdom Quest ride. They can build their own LEGO race cars and test them on the speed test track. The LEGO Fire Academy has climbing features and a big slide for active play. The youngest children can construct their own buildings in the Duplo Village. Visitors can see how LEGOs are made in the LEGO factory. Popular zoo exhibits include the giant pandas, orangutans, and the western lowland gorillas. Wildlife shows, keeper talks, a petting zoo with farm animals, and the Kidszone Playground are included with general admission tickets. Animal feedings, carousel rides, and the zoo train require an extra fee. The kids may want to cool off in the new splash fountain scheduled to open in summer 2013. The zoo is open Monday-Friday from 9:30-5:30 and weekends from 9:30-6:30. Admission is $16.99 for ages 3-11 and $21.99 for ages 12 and older. Zoo Atlanta offers reciprocal discounts to members of many other zoos and aquariums.

Six Flags boasts some of the wildest, fastest, and highest thrill rides in the country. Favorite roller coasters at the 100-acre amusement park include Mind Bender, Ninja, Georgia Cyclone, and The Great American Scream Machine. Six Flags offers top entertainment and shows for everyone in the family including Looney Tunes characters for young visitors. Six Flags is located west of Atlanta off I-20 at Exit 46A or Exit 47. Admission tickets are $56.99 for adults and $39.99 for children under 48 inches tall. Daily parking fee is $20. Discounted tickets are available on their website.

A few miles north of Atlanta is Six Flags White Water, a family water theme park with a wave pool and water slides. A new attraction for the 2013 season is Typhoon Twister, where four person tubes will drop five stories before spinning out into a giant splash pool. Six Flags White Water is located off I-75 at Exit 265 in Marietta, Georgia. Admission tickets are$39.99 for adults and $29.99 for children under 48 inches tall. Parking is $20.
